Whilst out delivering a bespoke WordPress training workshop yesterday, we experienced a technical problem that prevented us from uploading photos to our NextGEN Galleries. We were able to upload single photos if we disabled the Flash based uploader, but this was a time-consuming method.
This evening we have investigated this glitch in more detail and have identified that this is being caused by a recent update to the Contact Form 7 plugin. The good news is we have also identified a very simple solution that takes a couple of minutes to implement:
- Log in to your WordPress Admin area
- Click on Plugins
- Find NextGEN Gallery and click on Edit
- Find and click on ngg-config.php
- Replace
require_once( WP_LOAD_PATH . 'wp-load.php');
- With
require_once( WP_LOAD_PATH . 'wp-admin/admin.php');
- Click on Save
You should now be able to upload photos via the flash uploader once more.

We have fixed the CF7 problem and will be issuing a NextGEN update soon!
This has caused a lot of problems recently for clients – We are really looking forward to hearing about the release date for the patch/update. The fix above is simple to do but some clients don’t feel confortable when it comes to editing php coding.
